2020 Junior Season
Junior League 2020 Season
The Wetherby Junior Cricket League are pleased to update all clubs that the boards of the Wetherby Cricket League and Leeds Junior Cricket League have each voted to merge for the 2020 Cricket Season. The Yorkshire Cricket Board is in full support of this move. This development will provide an influx of teams particularly at younger age groups and will enable clubs with more regionalised groupings offering substantially reduced travel on match nights.
In terms of representative cricket, the league will be operating sides at the following age groups:
U10, U11, U12, U13, U15 and U17 (Joe Lumb)
More players will subsequently receive opportunities to access YCB Pathways to Excellence during winter months, providing a clear pathway for all players to reach their potential.
As previously noted the league is on sound financial footing with significant reserves. A reminder that club funding can be accessed to all member clubs via the Bill Leaf Memorial fund whose mandate is “To support initiatives by the Wetherby & District Cricket League and its member clubs that directly involve Junior Cricket”.
Representatives from both Wetherby and leeds Junior leagues are currently structuring 2020 season competitions with a view to opening applications during w/c 7th October. A presentation evening for clubs to attend is being arranged for late September.

Finally, the 2019 Junior Presentation will take place on Friday Oct 4th at Wetherby CC. An indoor U9 / U11 competition will take place at Boston Spa on friday nights from mid Oct until Christmas, with accessible coaching on friday nights from January.
